My Part 1 video describes the Windows file system and file manager, how they work and how best to use them.

Before viewing, please study the excellent short tutorial at the “How Things Work” web site, on computer bits and bytes, if you want a complete understanding of the Windows file system. Files are everything in Windows and without reviewing that tutorial you may not fully understand my video. This video, and Part 2 are very long (over 50 minutes each). It’s a complex subject and I try to explain everything – never assuming that “you already know”.

Here is the diagram from my video showing how Data Files are contained inside File Folders (also called “Directories”). And how Folders are nested inside other Folders. Also note that some Folders are meant only for you to organize your stuff (User Folders), while other Folders are meant, not for you, but for Windows or your programs to use (System Folders).
